Another snowy day in Kentucky and I must say, I don’t mind one bit. I fully understand why the majority of people are eagerly awaiting spring; apart of me is also. But there is something about the quiet seasons of life when I’m forced to stay inside and cultivate some hobbies.

If you’re new here…

Hi, so am I! I am new to blogging, new to websites, and honestly new to taking risks. All I have is a strong conviction to nurture my family, community, and health better than I have. The Lord has led me here and I couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey. It is my desire to form a community with people who are also in a season of growing toward shepherding health and relationships. As I mentioned in my first blog, it’s overwhelming when I consider how far I need to grow in how I feed my family. But I believe together baby step after baby step, we will be surprised where we find ourselves after time.

Where do we begin?

Every family will probably start this journey differently, but for us I started with our bread. I learned how to make sourdough and it has been so rewarding but also time consuming. It has taken me a full year before making another change in making our food products rather than purchasing them (granted we have had a lot of life changes that have slowed down our progress). This past month I decided the next step would be our coffee creamer. As I’m sure we all know, most creamers have harmful ingredients and the ones that do not are very pricey. So today I want to share with you a very easy recipe to make coffee creamer at home! This is my copycat version of the Starbucks caramel creamer that I usually use daily (sometimes multiple times a day, it’s fine). I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Caramel Coffee Creamer Recipe

ingredients:

  • 2 cups of brown sugar (only one cup if you don’t like very sweet creamers)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 pinches of sea salt

directions:

First, add your brown sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to a rapid boil. Next, once sugar and water are boiling add in your cream, milk, vanilla, and salt. Whisk together well and remove from heat. Allow to cool then store in an airtight container. Give it a good shake before each use!

I hope this recipe is helpful to you and a baby step in shepherding your family’s health as it has been for us. I would love to hear from you– what changes have you made in your home that have benefited your family?
